On our own

I could have the mind
to compress something vivid,
yet artificial
in our crossing worlds
shaped by
those frequent visits
of values,
that’re all softly
slipping away.
I should be
someone more dramatic,
useful where fear
is an laughing stranger
and the will
of all saints
will only be taking us so far.
