Certain clothes

I’ve never
felt the pause of fortune,
the healing of a stolen library
where all the books
keep to their shelves
with alphabetical eyes
that can only see
what the covers have to offer.
This has become the reflection,
while we crash into parties
like uninvited hopefuls,
all swimming around
and doing our best
to fit in.
