Open eyes

We’ve remarked on all the rest,
posted comments
on the way we feel
and as the final plea
rolls over our faces
we find these
perfect ways to smile.
Maybe there was something else,
something in the
lost and found
that’s been used by someone else.
I’ll never know,
or see what’s been rejected
on such a perfect day
that has kept this promise
for me to stay
and wait for something more.
