Birds eye view

Hopeful endings
and powerful people,
the smiles that never laugh
have eyes
that never close.
It’s among ourselves
that we lose our fear,
lasting until the touch
where frailty conspires
and all our hands break.
I’ve felt less alone before,
like crooked teeth
biting down
while the stories lie,
putting us all
in different places.
