For the last time.

It’s got us by reflection,
like reputations
when they’re spun
from things
that’ve actually happened.
Now it would take a thought
to say the least,
something better off
being said some other time
and when I finally remember
I’ll ask again to make sure.
It must be the way they walk
with their higher chins
and eyes so wide
we all feel
we’re being watched.
