Pages over Words

They don’t share pens
and refuse to take me seriously,
but outside
they share pretend cigarettes,
like well chosen words,
they congratulate each other
with kind smiles
through threatening eyes.

They’re the ones
who want me to fail,
the ones calculating the words they share,
like there was
some better way to feel life
and hoping I’d be the last one to find out.
